Our 2026 - Care Inspectorate Wales - Annual Return

The Care Inspectorate Wales (CIW) annual return legally requires registered care providers in Wales to report key details about their operations each year. It captures data on staffing levels, service capacity, and how care is delivered, which provides comparable information for the public and helps plan regulatory inspections.

Please find the details of our most recent annual return below.

Use of Artificial Intelligence “A I”

Silver Assist Homecare uses technology, including artificial intelligence (AI), in a controlled, proportionate, and responsible manner to support administrative and documentation processes. AI is not used to replace professional judgement, human interaction, or the delivery of care.

AI may be utilised to support the drafting and formatting of care assessments and care documentation. All information used within these documents is collected directly by trained staff through face‑to‑face assessment, discussion with the individual, and (where appropriate) their family or representatives.

The following safeguards are in place at all times:

  • All assessment information is gathered by a human

  • All decisions about care, risk, and support are made by qualified personnel

  • All AI‑assisted documentation is anonymised, reviewed, verified, and authorised by a competent member of staff prior to implementation

  • Ultimate responsibility for assessment accuracy and care planning remains with the Registered Manager

AI is not used to assess individuals, determine eligibility, make safeguarding decisions, replace clinical or professional judgement, or interact directly with people who use the service.

Silver Assist Homecare maintains clear governance and accountability for all care documentation. The use of AI does not alter existing responsibilities under the Regulation and Inspection of Social Care (Wales) Act 2016, nor the expectation that care is safe, person‑centred, and responsive to individual needs.

Data Protection and Confidentiality

The use of AI complies with UK GDPR, data protection legislation, and internal confidentiality policies. Personal and sensitive information is processed lawfully, securely, and with appropriate safeguards. Human oversight is maintained to ensure accuracy, relevance, and dignity are upheld at all times.

Commitment to Person‑Centred Care

Silver Assist Homecare’s approach remains firmly rooted incompassionate, relationship‑based care delivered by people. AI is used solely to support clarity, consistency, and efficiency in documentation, enabling staff to dedicate more time and attention to people receiving care.

Silver Assist Homecare uses AI only as a documentation support tool. All assessments are conducted in person by trained staff, with full human review, accountability, and managerial oversight maintained at all times.

Recognition for Quality and Excellence

Silver Assist Homecare is proud to have been independently recognised as one of the UK's leading home care providers, receiving consecutive Top 20 Home Care Provider Awards in Wales from Homecare.co.uk in 2024, 2025 and 2026.

These awards are particularly meaningful because they are based on reviews and feedback from clients and their families. They reflect the experiences of the people we support every day and the trust they place in our team.

Achieving this recognition for three consecutive years demonstrates our sustained commitment to delivering safe, compassionate and person-centred care. It also reflects the dedication, professionalism and kindness shown by our carers, coordinators and management team across South Powys, Brecon, Hay-on-Wye and surrounding communities.

As part of our governance framework, we actively encourage feedback from clients, families and stakeholders. We use this feedback to monitor performance, identify opportunities for improvement and ensure that our services continue to meet the highest standards of quality and care.

The consistent recognition received through the Homecare.co.uk awards programme reinforces our commitment to:

  • Delivering outstanding person-centred care

  • Promoting independence, dignity and wellbeing

  • Maintaining high standards of service quality

  • Listening to and acting upon customer feedback

  • Investing in the training and development of our workforce

  • Driving continuous improvement across all areas of the organisation

While we are proud of the recognition we have received, our focus remains firmly on providing exceptional support to the individuals and families who rely on us every day. The feedback behind these awards helps shape our service and supports our ongoing commitment to excellence.
